How does it work? Condensed milk packaging

For the producers of condensed milk, ketchups and sauces we make flexible packaging of composite laminates with aluminum foil.

What can damage the product inside a package?

  • Light. Ultraviolet and other types of radiation accelerate adverse reactions in products.
  • Air. Products contain aerobes. If oxygen gets into a package, they breathe and oxidize the product. For example, coffee or tea. The product loses its aroma and changes taste.
  • Moisture. Provided moisture gets inside the package, it creates conditions for the microorganisms development and products go bad faster. Moisture will also worsen the appearance and use properties of the package itself.
  • Heat. Accelerates all adverse processes.

So far no packaging material that would protect from all adverse factors simultaneously has been invented.

Packaging for condensed milk, ketchup, sauces

Therefore, packaging manufacturers laminate (glue) a number of monofilms with various features.

Thus they produce multi-layered films (laminates), which are called according to the sequence of abbreviations of the material components inwards. For example, in PET/Al/PE: the outer layer is polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the medial layer is aluminum foil (Al) and the internal layer is polyethylene (PE).
A sandwich of monofilm layers is tailor-made for each type of product, the way of its storage, transportation and weight.
Here is the logic of alternating lamination layers based on the example of a three-layer material (triplex):
  • Outer layer stands for protecting from environmental impact and the basis for design printing. Usually these are biaxially oriented polyester, polypropylene or polyamide films, Kraft paper.
  • Medial layer is a barrier aluminum foil (UV protection, gas-proof etc.).
  • Internal layer is for sealing the package. The internal layer must provide good heat sealability (we call it a thermal layer). The internal layer is always made of either polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP).

To create a durable package for condensed milk and ketchups solvent lamination is applied.

Our laminate suits hot packaging at 90°C.
And, what is important, the spout is sealed in at 220-230°C.
The package reliability is confirmed by:
  • Ideal indicators of test results,
  • Bags drop 1 meter high onto concrete: out of 60 bags 1 unit was damaged.
